Tasting- Name: Maipe Malbec

Name: Maipe Malbec
Region/Country: Mendoza, Argentina
Year: 2015
Price: $12-- Sale $6.95

Winery Review: "The 2015 Maipe Malbac is another 100% Malbec, with a deep purple color and a style similar to the Lexicon, with chocolaty, blackcurrant, and blackberry fruit, as well as touches of licorice and earth. It is delicious, soft, and round." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (March 2016), 87 points-- Excellent Wine Values for Under $25

My Review: I didn't have a very good impression of this wine because I thought the smell was awful. Despite the smell, the wine had a very rich color that reminded me of a deep purple you would see in the fall. The taste was very interesting. There were so many different flavors going on that I wasn't sure what I was exactly tasting. I could taste some type of spices, some rich fruits, and even an oak taste. The combination threw me off, but it wasn't horrible. I did not try this wine with food.
